Learn how to use Digital Wallet to send and use Exchange gift cards.

To use Sandboxx’s Digital Wallet you need to download and have an active Sandboxx account.

Adding an Exchange gift card to your wallet:

Navigate to the Gift Cards button on the Home tab

  1. On the HOME screen of the app, tap on Gift Cards

  2. Select “Manage Gift Card”

  3. Tap on the “+” in the bottom right-hand corner

  4. Enter the Gift Card Number and PIN then "Add Gift Card"

How to send someone an Exchange gift card through your wallet

From the dashboard tap on the “My Wallet” button

  1. On the HOME screen of the app, tap on Gift Cards

  2. Select “Send Gift Card With Letter”

  3. This will take you to the screen to start your letter

  4. Once you've composed your letter and added a photo, you will find the gift cards listed in the add-on items available for purchase.

  5. Choose the amount

  6. Enter your payment information

  7. Select “Purchase”

Where can Exchange gift cards be used

The military has four types of military Exchange stores:

  • The MCX – The Marine Corps Exchange

  • AAFES – The Army and Air Force Exchange

  • NEX – The Navy Exchange

  • CGX – The Coast Guard Exchange

Exchange gift cards can be used in-store or online.

Do Exchange gift cards have an expiration date

The gift card doesn’t expire and can be used at any time for purchases at any military Exchange store or online.

If I purchase an Exchange gift card for someone how is it delivered

Exchange gift cards will be sent in the same envelope as your letter. Be sure to let your recruit know there is a gift card included so they don't miss it.

Who can use Exchange store gift cards

Exchange gift cards are only redeemable for those with Exchange store privileges.

You can shop at the exchange if you’re in one of these groups:

  • Active, reserve, or retired uniformed service members

  • Medal of Honor recipients

  • Wage marine personnel and retired wage marine personnel of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

  • Department of Defense and Coast Guard civilian employees on service agreements overseas

  • Certain full-time employees of non-federal entities hired in the United States and assigned to work on a U.S. military installation overseas

  • Certain military members of foreign nations

  • Federal government civilian employees who reside on military installations in the United States or the U.S. territories and possessions

  • Authorized family members

  • Delayed-entry program participants

  • Veterans with service-connected disabilities

  • Purple Heart recipients

  • Former prisoners of war

  • Primary family caregivers of veterans enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers

  • Department of Defense and Coast Guard civilian employees in the United States and U.S. territories and possessions

  • U.S. citizen employees of firms under contract to the DOD employed overseas

  • All honorably discharged veterans (at online exchanges only) as of Nov. 11, 2017

  • Retired DOD and Coast Guard civilian employees (at online exchanges only) by fall 2021 (check back for updates)
