Can You Send Letters Without Being Connected to Your Recruit? Absolutely!

Wondering if you can continue using Sandboxx to send letters even if you’re not currently connected to your recruit in the app? The answer is yes! We know how important it is to stay in touch during training, and Sandboxx makes it easy to keep the connection strong. This guide will walk you through how to send letters even when you’re not directly connected to your recruit.

Important Address Information

At this time, we do not have mailing addresses for all boot camp locations. Your recruit may be training at a facility that has not yet provided us with address details. If you have questions about an address, please contact our Customer Happiness Team. To avoid delays or returned mail, we recommend waiting until you have the correct address before sending letters.

Adding Recruits to Your Address Book

To send letters to a recruit, you first need to add their details to your address book. Follow these steps:

  1. Open the Sandboxx app and tap the Profile icon at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Select Address Book.

  3. Tap the + in the top right hand corner.

  4. Enter the recruit’s details, including:

    • Full name

    • Branch of service

    • Complete training address (e.g., Battalion, Company, Platoon)

  5. Tap Confirm Address. Once saved, the recruit will appear in your address book, and you can select them when writing letters. Ensure you have the complete and accurate training address before adding the recruit.

How to Send Letters When You’re Not Connected to Your Recruit

  1. Go to the Home Tab
    Open the Sandboxx app and navigate to the Home tab, which appears by default when the app opens.

  2. Tap “Start Writing”
    Select the “Start Writing” button to begin composing your letter.

  3. Select “+ New Recipient”
    Choose the “+ New Recipient” option to add a new contact.

  4. Choose the Base
    Select the training base where your recruit is located to help ensure accurate delivery.

  5. Follow Address Prompts
    Sandboxx will guide you through formatting the address correctly. If the base is not listed, you may manually enter the address.

  6. Create the Contact
    Save the recipient once the address information is complete for future use.

  7. Write and Send Your Letter
    Compose your message and share words of encouragement or support.

  8. Add Photos (Optional)
    For best results, use square-format photos. Sandboxx Plus subscribers can include up to four photos per letter.

  9. Review Before Sending
    Double-check the address and any attached photos before selecting Send.

Printing and Delivery Schedule

Sandboxx prints letters Monday through Friday at 4:30 PM EST and ships them via FedEx overnight to Battalion mailrooms:

  • Monday–Thursday (before 4:30 PM EST): Delivered next business day

  • Friday (before 4:30 PM EST): Delivered Monday

  • Friday after 4:30 PM EST, Saturday, and Sunday: Delivered Tuesday

Please note that severe weather or mechanical issues may occasionally impact delivery timelines.

Sharing Recruit Information

Sandboxx prioritizes privacy and security. The "connect to your recruit" link cannot be shared due to privacy safeguards. However, you can share your recruit’s address with family and friends using the Support Squad feature:

  1. Open your squad in the app.

  2. Share your squad’s join code with the people you want to include.

  3. Once they join your squad, they will have access to the recruit’s address information.
